Stanley Black & Decker
As Lead Designer for the Stanley Black & Decker career site redesign, I worked in close collaboration with the account manager and UX strategist to guide the overall vision and execution. My goal was to transform the site from a standard job board into a dynamic platform that reflects the energy, innovation, and diversity of the organization. I developed a design strategy focused on creating an experience that resonates with job seekers while authentically representing the people behind the brand. By incorporating photography of real employees across a variety of roles and work environments, I was able to highlight the culture of the company in a way that feels genuine, engaging, and impactful.
Visually, we leaned into boldness. Large, confident typography was employed not just for readability, but to make a statement. We used big, punchy headlines to highlight key messages—like innovation, growth, and impact—aligning with Stanley Black & Decker’s brand voice. Brand colors—primarily black, yellow, and gray—were used strategically to anchor the layout while injecting energy and continuity throughout the site experience.
To give the pages a sense of movement and dimension, we incorporated drop shadows, layered elements, and offset image placements. These design choices break the rigidity of a traditional grid layout and help create a feeling of depth and progression. Imagery appears slightly staggered and layered, often overlapping sections to lead the eye and encourage exploration. The result is a site that feels alive—conveying not only what Stanley Black & Decker does but also how it feels to be part of their team. The redesign successfully positions the company as a forward-thinking, people-first employer, ready to attract top talent through a compelling and visually immersive digital experience.
